Coxing
From Sons of the Thames Rowing Club
Coxes at Sons are valued members of our rowing family. They have been part of our success at all levels, from novice wins through to a silver medal at the National Champs in 2010. If you are an experienced cox you will have the chance to cox men’s and women’s eights and fours through the head race season and competitive regatta season. Novice coxes will have the chance to build their Thames experience in eights, supported by the coaching team and head cox.
For those who have never coxed before - you may have realised by now that a cox is unique in sport - race driver, coach, and general combined (or so a cox would say), but overall someone who can make a huge contribution to how your crew performs.
Just some of the rewards include being part of a successful team, the excitement of racing and winning, making some tremendous and enduring friendships, knowing one has made a difference, developing leadership skills and, of course, receiving some serious appreciation, not to mention the social side.
Join our coxing course: learn Thames navigation, calls, race plans, and build your confidence in smaller boats. September 18th for three Saturdays, 1pm to 2:30pm.
