Masters
From Sons of the Thames Rowing Club
Masters at Sons of the Thames
Sons has a strong and active masters group, with crews racing at the Veterans' Head of the River, the Henley Veteran Regatta, the Veteran IVs Head and other regattas throughout the summer.
The Men's and Women's Masters Groups consist of experienced rowers, generally around the Senior 2 level, that no longer have the time to train intensively but who still want to row and race at a competitive level.
Women's Masters Group
The Group rows at weekends and on week-day evenings in the summer with outings being planned around squad availability - if we can get a boat out we will! Racing crews are planned on a similar basis and we are happy to enter composite crews where that helps to ensure that we get a race! The Group works with several different coaches.

Men's Masters Group
We row every Saturday morning at 8:00 a.m. (and at other times if we're feeling keen). We usually just wait and see how many of us turn up, and then go out in fours, pairs, doubles and singles (or an eight, if we can find a cox), so that we can have some intra-squad competition. The outing is normally followed by breakfast in a local cafe.
Sometimes we are more organised, and enter head races and regattas, and sometimes we win them, too.
To find out more about rowing with the Men's Masters Group, please contact us, or just come along one Saturday morning and join us.
