Sons overall have won gold, or finished in a medal position, at 90% of the events they have entered over the past regatta season. The men’s squad have assisted with various wins and solid performances this year. You can be part of this by joining Sons.

Rowing within the men’s squad at Sons is athlete focused. It is about you coming first, the individual athlete. Your desire and want to succeed is what drives the squad forward to produce results. At Sons, we are aware from your commitment, you wish for a return – to win. This return is exactly what Sons wishes to provide you with, by giving you the tools to put you into a position which will enable your desire to be met at whatever level, from Henley Royal Regatta to a first ever regatta win.

Sons provide a high athlete to coach ratio, with all coaches at Sons being mentored by John McArthur (ex-international coach). Through the mentoring process, it is you as athletes who benefit directly, with every coach feeding your desire to succeed.

There are many coaches who will assist in your development over the winter season under an open squad system, where athletes have the opportunity to row in a mix of boats and, courtesy of a highly structured long-term training programme you have the opportunity to develop both fitness and technique.

Over the summer months, after our annual spring training camp, which this Easter was held at Temple-sur-Lot, France, racing crews become set. This allows for the best preparation of performance to happen during the regatta season.

Sons’ men’s squad has a professional structure, and the squad is on an upward progression. This allows you to join the club whether you’re returning to rowing from a break, or coming straight from another club. The club also acknowledges you have demanding careers; however the structure Sons offers still allows for results to be achieved.
